Hotel 88
Hotel 88, located in downtown Memphis, TN near the Mississippi River, serves as a modern, sophisticated adaptation of the retro style notable from the time period of rock and roll, a now worldwide music style born in Memphis during the 1950s. Its name derives from one of the first rock-and-roll songs, "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston, as well as positive cultural interpretations of the number eight. The design will accomplish clientele needs for a dual-purpose environment used for both living and working, as the hotel primarily targets business travellers. To do this, special attention will be paid to acoustics, lighting, and zoning of the two separate task areas (work and living) through the incorporation of plush wall seating to absorb sound, walls, and engaged columns to separate the space.
In order to successfully portray the modern retro concept, in addition to establishing the hotel's name and identity within the space, curvilinear geometry will be applied throughout. Deep blues, white, steel metal, and small accents of orange will further establish an upbeat, yet sophisticated ambience, as the concept entails. The colors will also produce subtle contrast within the space for visual interest. Overall, through the effective application of color, geometry, and spatial separation, Hotel 88 will be able to successfully accomplish program requirements, clientele needs, as well as precise concept depiction.

Hotel San Diego
The location of the hotel is in downtown San Diego and caters to business professionals and travellers. To achieve this, the furniture selection and décor will be sleek by having straight lines or curves and a clean look. More décor will be added to make it feel more like a home rather than a hotel room. The color scheme is more of a masculine feel with some accent colors that bring in the femininity. Sleek, modern lines in the furniture and materials will convey the uptown, fresh, hip, modern, corporate, contemporary, trendy metropolitan vibes desired.
